What is Montessori?

A century ago, Dr. Maria Montessori noticed something simple but powerful: children learn best not when they're taught, but when they're trusted. Give them the right materials and the freedom to follow their own curiosity, and they teach themselves — joyfully, and at their own pace.

That's the heart of what we do at Eka. Our teachers, whom the children call "Aunty," don't stand at the front of a room — they sit beside each child, gently connecting them to the activity that's right for them, right now. We call our classroom the "Environment," because that's exactly what it is: a space built for movement, focus, and quiet order, where everything has its place.

Small hands reach for materials on open shelves, one at a time, one skill at a time. It looks like play. To your child, it is play. But it's also their very first work — the beginning of a lifelong love of learning.
